Tool 11 Digital Citizenship

One concept that I would make sure to get across is that anything you post online is potentially permanent.  Even if pictures are posted and removed someone could cut and paste or save those pictures for a variety of reasons. Another important issue is that anything digital can be infinitely duplicated.  So a compromising video can be sent to one person then another and so on.  The idea being that even if you post and remove, you never know who or what was done with that data.

Tool 10 Mobile Apps

Mobile Apps Reviewed:
Doodle it Free - "Paint-Like" App that you can color with
Math Drills Lite - Practice math operations
Type and Talk - you type it and the phone will say it back to you.
Words with Friends - Scrabble for iPod & iPhone

These could be used in small group or whole group instruction to go over various concepts. For example with type and talk a student may learn how letters sound when spelled correctly or incorrectly.

Tool 9 Jing & Skype

JING - I see Jing as an easy way to create tutorials for processes.  If I was in the classroom this could come in really handy for science experiments or in math to explain concepts.

SKYPE - Could be integrated in a number of ways.  Perhaps students can have pen pals in the district, state, country or the world via email then meet their pen pal via skype!  This could also be used to have special guests in your classroom to speak on a certain subject.

Tool 8 Streaming Video

Streaming Video has a great value to our schools because it can be an excellent way to supplement our lessons. Using videos can also appeal to learners whom otherwise tune out of our routine-type lessons.
I have personally used videos that I've created to supplement my programs. For example my video on respect helped to illustrate an otherwise abstract concept for students.

I have also used videos in the past that explain social studies concepts like community helpers.

Tool 7 iMovie

This is probably my favorite tool to use.  I create these on a frequent basis with my news team:

Tool 6 Wikis

A wiki could be a useful tool for the following:

- Shared Writing Projects - because it would involve a collaborative effort
- A Daily/Weekly Class Journal - to discuss concepts covered in class
- Create a List of Classroom Rules
- A List of Vocabulary Words

Tool 5 Social Bookmarking

Through social bookmarking I discovered Psychology Today and Motivational Interviewing. Two websites that will come in very handy when searching for specific techniques with students during counseling sessions.

Tool 4 Google Docs and Google Reader

Google docs can be beneficial with collaborating on the creation of a test within a team or classroom rules/agreements.

Google reader can serve to keeping you abreast of the latest news on topics being discussed in class. For example, science news like the situation in the Gulf of Mexico or social studies news that keeps up with relevant community news such as elections.

Tool 3 Mashups and Image Generators

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

This is a fun way to create finishing touches on projects, give visual cues to vocabulary words, or stimulate creativity.

Tool 2 PLN and Comments

Building an online education community can have it's benefits.  The point that stood out to me from the commenting advice is that it takes time to comment and really create a dynamic community.  I selected the following blogs to comment on:
